Not Authorized

There are 2 common reasons for reaching this error screen instead of successfully logging into D2L:

  1. You are a new or returning employee and something is wrong with the start or end dates of your employment record in UAccess.
  2. You are a new CESL student.

UA Employee: Issue with Employment Dates

  • Has your official start date not yet occurred?
    • Example: you are trying to set up your D2L course site on August 1 when your contract start date is set for August 25th.
  • Has your official end date already occurred?
    • Example: you are trying to turn in fall semester grades on December 30th and your contract ended December 15th.

Your home department (the department that hired you) can set up your human resource record to have "Pre-Hire DCC" to resolve the start date issue or a "DCC" status to resolve the end date issue. This will allow you to log in as you must have an active relationship with the university and it must be documented in the UAccess system.

Every department has a person responsible for handling HR information. If you are unsure who that is please contact your department head for the contact information.

If your department HR representative does not know how to set up "Pre-Hire DCC" status in UAccess then the representative can contact Pris Cantu (pcantu@email.arizona.edu) at Systems Control who can show them how to accomplish this; however, the work must be performed by the home department.

Student at the Center for English as a Second Language (CESL)

CESL students can sometimes have missing information in their UAccess accounts as they have a different admittance process than matriculated students. If you are having problems logging in and are participating in CESL activities then please contact CESL asking them to review your account to ensure they have entered all the necessary information.

Neither of these apply to me

If you are receiving this message and the above 2 items do not pertain to you then please contact Mark Felix (mwfelix@email.arizona.edu) at the Office of Instruction and Assessment as he can help uncover the issue and direct you to someone on campus that can resolve it for you.
